Sally Fuzzytoes
Sally Fuzzytoes came all the way from Cairo, Egypt! She was saved by a small rescue in Cairo; but due to the limited exposure, funds, and volunteers, they felt it best to find another rescue to help with Sally’s case, as she is blind.
The first part of her story is not a happy one. Sally was found wandering the streets of Cairo, blind, scared, and starving. She lost her vision after someone saw her being beaten against a building. Sally suffered head trauma and severe emotional trauma as well. The head trauma left her forever blind, and the emotional trauma left her terrified of people and other cats when she arrived from Cairo. She would often would lash out in absolute terror and attack anyone who came near her.
Sally became very attached to the running wheel we have at the Sanctuary and never left it, except to use the box and eat or drink. She would run and run on it for hours and we believe it gave her comfort and a sense of security. Slowly, she has allowed our President Michele and one of our volunteers to touch her. One day, she was found wandering the Sanctuary and trying different sleeping spots other than her wheel, but when frightened, she would run back to the wheel and stay on it for hours.
Today you’ll find Sally all over the place, most often in the kitchen begging for food! She has the cutest meow in the world! Even though she still gets scared sometimes and won’t allow a lot of petting or touching, she has made huge strides towards trusting humans again. Would you consider helping her to trust humans and become her Lifetime Care Sponsor?
