Kismet Mossjewel
Kismet Mossjewel had a very, very rough beginning in life. She and her family were brought to a high kill shelter and left. Her mother and siblings became very sick with an upper respiratory infection and Kismet was born blind. The shelter euthanized her entire family, except her, and we aren’t sure why she was spared. We were told about her and quickly took her into our Lifetime Care Program. She became best friends with Galaxy and they were always together.
Things were going well for Kismet, but shortly after she was spayed, she came down with FIP. If you're not familiar with FIP, you can read about it here. Until a couple of years ago, there was no treatment, and it was a death sentence. We explored the treatment and agreed Kismet was a good candidate to receive the medication. It was daily shots for 84 days, with frequent visits to the vet for check ups and blood work. Then after the 84 days, we had to wait another 84 days to make sure she didn’t relapse.
The day Kismet passed the 84 day mark was a great day at Milo’s Sanctuary, and we congratulated Kismet for her courage and desire to live with a tuna cake and lots of kisses and hugs! Of course her BFF Galaxy was there guiding Kismet to the tuna cake (although she didn’t really need to be guided) and washing her face after Kismet ate her fill.
This beautiful blind girl can now be found playing with Galaxy and the other special needs cats at Trueheart Haven, greeting visitors with a purr and headbonk. Kismet would love sponsors to cover the cost of her food, litter, and any ongoing medical bills she might have as she grows older. Would you like to sponsor this special girl?
