Fletcher Briarsong
Fletcher is quite a character, yet his beginnings are a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that Fletcher was brought to the shelter with severe trauma that's consistent with being hit by a car, leaving him blind with neurological issues. When he came to Milo's, he began having seizures as a result of his head trauma. The treatment is a daily dose of Phenobarbital, and administering his medication is an adventure itself!
Despite being newly blind, this clever boy quickly learned how to read his surroundings: he figured out the sounds of his caregivers getting his medications AND the time of day he would receive them, and the little rascal would run away at pill team each day! No worries though, this wasn't the first rodeo for the Milo's caregivers, and they've been able to continuously outsmart Fletcher and give him his meds. He's been seizure-free since his first month at the Sanctuary!
Despite his attempts to avoid pill time, Fletcher is sweet and playful with humans. In fact, you must be on alert with him, because this little trickster likes to untie shoe laces and manages to do it to someone every single day. He's like an annoying little brother to some of the other cats, sneaking up on them when their backs are turned and and starting some lively wrestling matches. No aggression here, Fletcher is just very active and loves to play. Even though he can't see, he gallops through the Sanctuary on a daily basis Fand when he isn't racing through the Sanctuary, you'll find him cuddling with the other cats.
Fletcher will need ongoing monitoring of his neurological condition, and we're hopeful that with medication management, he will not have any more seizures. Sponsoring Fletcher will support his medical care and help ensure that this cheeky boy lives his best live here at Milo's Sanctuary.
