Sid

Picture
Sid as in Sid Vicious? Heck, no – if anything, we’d call him Sid Precious! Sid is an absolute sweetheart, and one of several cats that Milo’s took in from a terrible hoarding situation. Sid has cryptococcus, a serious fungal infection that can cause a whole host of serious problems, including respiratory issues, neurological challenges, skin lesions, and severe inflammation in the face, nose, and sinuses.

Initially, Sid’s former human was treating him with the proper medications, but as sadly happens with hoarding situations, she got in over her head by taking in far too many cats, and at some point, she could no longer afford the medications needed to keep Sid symptom-free, or keep up with any of the cats’ basic care. Cryptococcus has no cure and requires lifetime treatment, so when Sid arrived at Milo’s, he hadn’t been treated in months and the crypto was manifesting in his face. With a large swollen nose, difficult breathing and lots of discomfort as you can imagine. Completely the result of having had no medication for quite some time. It took months of daily medications and close monitoring, he started feeling much better…. and we discovered that Sid’s favorite place to be is on a human’s lap, where he will happily accept all of the cuddles and head rubs that anyone will give him.
