Laveau

Laveau was rescued from a local shelter hours before she was to be euthanized, her young life cut short. Why? Because she's blind has black fur. Black cats are often the first to be euthanized and the last to be adopted because of ridiculous and outdated superstitions. Also, because she was born blind, she wasn’t considered ‘adoptable’.
When Milo’s rescued her, she was gravely ill with an upper respiratory infection and a high fever. Her foster mom spent over a week force-feeding her, giving her subcutaneous fluids, medications, lots of love and 24-hour care.
Laveau recovered and her amazing personality emerged. This little girl LOVES everyone she meets and purrs constantly. She loves to play and chase her little ball with the bell all around her foster's kitchen. She's learned to play with other kitties, to navigate in her new environment and she is doing very well. Most people are amazed to learn she's blind.
Laveau had to undergo emergency eye surgery to remove her right eye that had ruptured due to entropion (which means her eyelashes are growing inwards and constantly rubbing and irritating her eyes, causing ulcerations and infections). She healed well, and her forever foster has administered daily medications to ensure she keeps her other eye healthy. Your sponsorship ensures that Laveau will always receive the care she needs to live a long and happy life.
