ALFIE
ALFIE
Alfie was rescued from a local shelter the day he was to be euthanized. He was dumped at the shelter when his human family found out that he was diabetic. Apparently they didn't want to deal with his diabetes so decided to abandon him instead.
When we met Alfie we fell instantly in love, this GORGEOUS boy is gentle, kind and loving. He loves to play with his big catnip toy and loves a human lap even more. He fit into his fosters home from the first moment he joined the other special needs kitties and made friends very quickly with quite a few other cats.
He's very polite and always lets you know with a meow that it's time for dinner or breakfast or his snack. Because he's diabetic he's on a special diet (like a human diabetic has to be) and so eats smaller meals throughout the day, which he always enjoys, this boy LOVES his food!
When Alfie first came to us his blood sugar was out of control, both spiking and crashing during the day. It took weeks to get him regulated and unfortunately because of both his family and then the shelter not being consistent with his insulin he developed Diabetic Neuropathy in his back legs, which now makes him look like a drunken sailor when he walks. It doesn't hurt him and he still manages to jump onto the softest chair in the house or onto his cat condo, it just takes him longer to get from one place to another. We are treating him both with homeopathic and traditional medications for the neuropathy and he's improving on a daily basis.
However, because of his severe medical needs and the bad condition he was in when he first came to us he has had to make many trips to our vet's office with lots of blood tests. With his twice daily insulin and special diet we have very high bills for him. He desperately needs a sponsor to help cover his medical bills and his insulin. Even a small amount helps, he's worth every penny and when you look into those trusting, soulful eyes you can only ask the question as to why his human family abandoned him in his hour of need.
Alfie thanks you from the bottom of his heart and so do we!
